For Girls » Community Service Opportunities
The foundation of Girl Scouting includes a strong support of community service.  Badgerland Council offers opportunities for girls and troops to help in many ways.  Check back here often for a listing of current opportunities.  You can also contact us at volunteer@gsbadgerland.org to find out about service at our properties or at your local service center.

Check out information from our national office regarding community service.

Badgerland Council Service Centers

As we gear up for another exciting Girl Scout year, Badgerland Council would love your help! We’re looking for volunteers interested in a variety of areas, here's just one example:
  • Administrative Support – Would you like to help answer the phones, work on data entry or help our accounting department?  If you have the time and interest in supporting Badgerland Council in these areas, please contact Sarah Byer at byers@gsbadgerland.org

Partner Agencies

Check back often--Partner agency opportunities are updated regularly.

The American Red Cross 27th Annual Holiday Blood Drive
Monday, December 24- Alliant Energy Center, Madison

The goal is to collect 625 pints of blood that day. The Holiday Blood Drive provides a fun and festive event for blood donors and volunteers. Donors bring their children to the child care area and it is a family tradition for many people.

Bakers Wanted!
The Red Cross will have a large crowd of blood donors, volunteers and Red Cross staff to feed. The food is all donated by many generous sponsors. This is where the Red Cross needs your help. They are looking for Brownie and Girl Scout Troops’ volunteers to bake treats such as cookies, brownies, muffins or holiday cookies for the refreshment areas. Any quantity or type of treat will be appreciated and enjoyed. This is a fun community service project that will help the Red Cross save many lives. In the past few years, the troops have provided a wide variety of treats.

Please package treats in Ziploc bags or disposable containers; they do not need to be individually wrapped. They can be dropped off at the following:

·        American Red Cross – West - 4860 Sheboygan Avenue:

Saturday, December 22nd from 8:00 am-2:00 pm

Sunday, December 23rd from 8:00 am-1:00 pm

·        American Red Cross – East - 2109 Zeier Road

Saturday, December 22nd from 8:00 am-1:00 pm

·        Alliant Energy Center, Hall A

Monday, December 24th from 7:00 am-11:00 am

At Alliant, there will be a drop off table by the volunteer registration station in the lobby. Please provide your troop information on the sign-in sheet when you drop off the treats at the Red Cross or Alliant Center.

If you plan on baking treats for this event, please contact Candy Beckwith at the Red Cross with your troop number (specify Daisy, Brownie, Girl Scout, Cadette, etc.) and city before December 20th. Your troop’s participation will be recognized on the sponsor signs on each refreshment table.

Please contact Candy Beckwith with questions at candy.beckwith@redcross.org or 608-298-6181.

Thank you!
