Boxes of Cookies Sold

Wow!

Badgerland Girl Scout troops rocked the Cookie Program. In fact, this was the most successful Cookie Program in Badgerland history with 118,951 cases sold. That means Badgerland Girl Scouts sold over 1.4 million boxes of cookies between February 8 and March 23. And what a Cookie Season it was: Polar Vortex anyone? What about snow storms? And how about the threat of a cookiecott? Badgerland rose to the challenge and embodied the can-do spirit of Girl Scouting ensuring troops and individual Girl Scouts achieved their goals.

Congratulations Girl Scouts!

Introducing Badgerland's Top Cookie Seller

KAYLEIGH BORCHERT

3122 boxes of cookies

Kayleigh, Troop 3656 in Palmyra, is this year's Tip-Top Cookie Seller. And that's saying something because over 200 Badgerland Girl Scouts earned Top Seller status by selling over 600 boxes. Kayleigh, a Brownie, has been a Girl Scout for three years. Her troop used the Cookie Program to fulfill a service project to donate care packages to soldiers stationed overseas. The project was inspired after Kayleigh met a few soldiers who had just returned from Afghanistan. The veterans shared that one of the most difficult parts of serving is feeling homesick and, in some cases, unappreciated. Kayleigh was so moved that she and her troop brainstormed a way to help soldiers know they are valued and remembered while they're far away from home. The troop's project is called Hearts from Home and Kayleigh personally visited 56 businesses to sell cookies and seek donations for the service project. Kayleigh's mom, Deborah, is the Troop Leader and said, "Our approach to the cookie sale was to truly embrace what it means to be a Girl Scout. What we did differently was let the cookies sell themselves and, instead, sold what it meant to be a Girl Scout...helping load groceries, getting someone a cart, telling everyone to have a nice day, thanking those who already bought (no matter where it was) for supporting Girl Scouts, introducing themselves to other Girl Scouts and telling them congratulations on doing a great job and keep up the great work, thanking parents of Girl Scouts for supporting us, smiling, saying hello and shaking people's hands by being pleasant greeters...just simply paying it forward!" Deborah notes, "We know the cookies will sell themselves as long as we show the world what it means to be a Girl Scout."

Kayleigh, a second grade student in East Troy, will be heading to Disney World as part of her Cookie Program rewards. More importantly? She and her sister Girl Scouts are putting together care packages to ship off to our military! Troop 3656 'adopted' 50 troop companies and their packages (stuffed with toiletries, books, puzzles, cards, calendars, pens, note pads, envelopes, Girl Scout cookies and much more) will be distributed to bases throughout Afghanistan.

Who's Going to Disney World?

THIRTY Badgerland Girl Scouts earned the trip for two to Disney. These top-selling Girl Scouts sold at least 2014 boxes of cookies in 2014. And, as you see from the yellow dots on the map below, the girls come from all around Badgerland.
