Badgerland Property Rentals

Girl Scouts of Wisconsin - Badgerland operates 10 properties for Girl Scout troops to rent for an overnight experience or day use. These sites include six camp properties and four Service Centers: Camp Black Hawk, Camp Brandenburg, Camp Ehawee, Camp Echo Valley, Camp Oakwood Knoll and Camp Stetler and Service Centers in Beloit, La Crosse, Madison and Platteville.

Camp facilities are available for rental seven days a week, pending availability.

In order to allow these sites to be used for Girl Scouting activities, properties can be reserved up to six months in advance by Girl Scout troops. Affiliated Girl Scout groups (Girl Scout families using the property for non-Girl Scouting activities, program partners) can reserve a property up to one month in advance.* View the Camp and Unit Availability as part of your planning process.

* This is a change to the property reservation policy effective October 1, 2014. In order to transition to the new timeline, Girl Scout affiliates may reserve a property for an event to be held before October 1. After October 1, Girl Scout affiliates can reserve the property up to one month in advance.

2014-15 Badgerland Property Rental Policy
Effective for all property reservations scheduled after October 1, 2014

  • Badgerland Council properties are available exclusively to Girl Scout members and Badgerland Girl Scout affiliates including Girl Scout families and program partners.
  • Site reservations by Girl Scout members for Girl Scout programs may be made six months prior to the event with a fully refundable $100 security deposit.
  • Site reservations by Badgerland Girl Scout affiliates for non-Girl Scout program purposes may be made one month prior the event with a fully refundable $250 security deposit.
  • Security deposits will be held until after the property has been inspected by the Site Manager. This will take no longer than 10 days and deposits will be fully refunded pending a positive inspection.

Instructions for Reserving a Badgerland Property

  1. Review the available dates in the Availability Calendars for your preferred property. DO NOT request dates in the Availability Calendars.
  2. Fill out the Property Reservation Form (found underneath the Rent A Camp section on the left task pane), with your preferred property and dates.
  3. You will receive an email confirming your dates and instructing you on how to pay through E-Biz.
  4. After payment has been made, you will receive an official confirmation letter and information sheets about the property.

Badgerland Property Policies

  • Reservations can only be made for up to 6 months out. Calendars will be opened one month at a time, on the first business day of the month.
  • If you would like to arrive early or leave late a day use fee may apply. Check-in time is 3 pm, and check-out time is 2:30 pm
  • If payment is not made within 10 business days of the availability confirmation, your reservation will be cancelled.

Camp Brandenburg

Dane County, WI

Brandenburg is located 30 minutes west of Madison and features a pond for canoeing, large playing field, picnic shelter, and hiking trails. Several indoor facilities complement the great spaces for outdoor activities including four areas for outdoor cooking and three indoor kitchens. The wide variety of program space makes this the ideal setting for day programs or overnights!

Hawk’s Nest is a three bedroom ranch-style house with an indoor kitchen and bathroom facilities as well as an outdoor fire ring. This is a great place for a first overnight. Mattresses are available for sleeping. Maximum occupancy is 19.

This troop house has four connected cabins that sleep 8 each in bunk beds with mattresses. Hilltop has indoor bathroom facilities and a large kitchen as well as two large program rooms for activities. A courtyard features an outdoor fireplace for campfires and cookouts. A fire circle and flag pole are located near the building. Maximum occupancy is 34.

Just down the hill from Hilltop connected by a road, is Sumac. Sumac has 2 cabins, which sleep 6 people in bunkbeds. There are 2 canvas tents, on wooden platforms, and two outdoor latrines. Also on site is a flag pole & fire circle.  There is a unit house at Sumac –with electricity and small kitchen with fireplace. The Sumac Shelter is great for rainy-day activities and includes a refrigerator, electric stove, and indoor fireplace. Water pump is located at the shelter. Maximum occupancy is 20. You will also find a small program/eating space inside and out.

Sumac is a three-season property. Sumac is closed for the winter season November 1, 2014 - May 1, 2015.

Located by Lake Katrine at Brandenburg, Kinderspielen can be found by following the path behind Sumac. The site is wonderful for troops who want a more primitive camping experience or for large group day events. It can also be a great additional space to rent if you are renting Hilltop or Sumac. There is plenty of room to pitch tents on the grassy field.  The site has a fire ring for cooking, outdoor latrine facilities, flag pole, and an outdoor shelter.  The lake is ideal for canoeing, but swimming is not permitted due to leeches. Badgerland Council owns all the property surrounding the lake as well, and there is a trail that you can take around the lake.

Kinderspielen is a summer property, open from May 1st to October 15th, weather permitting.

There is a boathouse on the property with 13 canoes that can be rented for a flat rate of $25 per visit.

Echo Valley


Hollandale, WI 

Echo Valley is a large site with exquisite rolling hills of grasslands and meadows. This property is great for hiking and wildlife viewing, especially birding. Located in Iowa County near Dodgeville, Echo Valley is a great place for large group program activities.

Gray Manor is a large three-story farm house that has room for almost any troop/group activity. The first floor has a full kitchen with a gas stove, two refrigerators, bathroom, wood-burning stove, and several rooms for eating, badge work, and other events. The second floor has six bedrooms that can be used for sleeping or other activities during an overnight. The third floor is a favorite of the girls; a refinished attic with carpet and makes a great slumber party room for girls and adults. Mattresses are available for sleeping. Indoor bathroom facilities including four showers are available. It is an excellent winter overnight spot with sledding availability nearby. Maximum occupancy is 72.

Echo Valley is a three-season property. Gray Manor is closed for the winter season November 21, 2014 - May 1, 2015.

The tent unit includes seven platform tents that sleep four each, with one being wheelchair accessible. The unit has a troop shelter with refrigerator, space for group activities, telephone, screened windows & a fireplace.  There is an outdoor fire ring and outdoor bathroom facilities. A water pump is located by the fire ring.  Maximum occupancy is 28.

Echo Valley is a three-season property. Whispering Winds is closed for the winter season November 1, 2014 - May 1, 2015.

Five 16 foot authentic tipis on platforms sleep four-five people each. Outdoor latrines, a fire circle, picnic shelter, and a water pump are available. There is no refrigeration, electricity, or mattresses. Additional tents can be pitched at this site for troops to experience primitive camping. Troops provide their own outdoor camping equipment. A kitchen fly and a unit box are available at Gray Manor or onsite. Maximum occupancy for the tipis is 16-20. Additional tipis may be set up upon request.

Camp Stetler

Richland Center, WI




Stetler is a great place for a first overnight. It’s on 160 acres, sleeps 32, includes prairie, hiking trails in the bluffs and a trout stream complete with beaver pond. Although it may feel as though you are far from civilization, Richland Center has a Super Wal-Mart & many other resources available to you.

The property has hiking trails, a stream, and a large open area near the Program House perfect for programming and learning primitive camping skills. Prairie restoration has also begun in one area of the property. Inside of Stetler you will find open space for dining, programming, and sleeping and an outdoor fire ring. Great for flying kites, playing in the snow, year round fun!


Camp Stetler is a three-season property. Stetler is closed for the winter season November 1, 2014 - May 1, 2015.

Oakwood Knoll

East Troy, WI

Located about 1 hour,15 minutes from the Beloit Service Center and about 1 hour, 30 minutes from the Madison Service Center. The property has a variety of natural features with shallow lakes/marshland, light walking/hiking trails around the property. There is one building on the property, an equipment shed, a platform tent unit, and several primitive camp sites.
Oakwood Knoll has a lodge that is used for groups and day camps. It has a fireplace, small kitchen, nurse’s station, which can also be used as a private sleeping area, and an office space –also a large basement for storm shelter, indoor program space, and storage. Flush toilets are inside but there are no shower facilities. Down a path from the main lodge are 5 hard topped platform tents –known as The Hilton . There is also a sun shelter and fire ring outside of Lodge that can be used for programming.

Camp Black Hawk

Camp Black Hawk is a summer resident camp located near Antigo, Wisconsin northeast of Wausau.   There are two lakes on the property and horses are housed on site during the summer.  The resident camp operates June through August.  Programs are usually one to two weeks in length and activity highlights include horseback riding, outdoor adventure programs, and waterfront activities such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, and kayaking in addition to troop camp sessions.  The tents are taken down soon after the camp season and the lodge (dining hall and kitchen) is closed, but several buildings may remain open if reservations warrant.
Waunagon and Health Center are heated buildings with a small kitchen and bath/shower. Camp Black Hawk is a beautiful site all year round. Winter sports enthusiasts particularly enjoy this northern Wisconsin site. Reservations should be made by October to ensure the buildings are ready for use during the winter.

The Tent Units may be reserved during the summer season (June through August) if there are no programs or camps running at that time.

Camp Ehawee

Camp Ehawee's quiet atmosphere is perfect for your retreat or meeting any season!  With the Black River as a back drop, your group will surely enjoy the Camp Ehawee experience.

Nakomis Lodge
Two dorm-style rooms sleep up to 38 participants in bunk beds. The bathroom facilities include three showers and toilets.  There is a complete kitchen, a two sided fireplace, and two activity rooms.  Outside, a fire pit is located 30 feet from the front door, making cookouts easy and fun!  Nakomis is wheelchair accessible.

Bertha Shuman Lodge
 Two dorm-style rooms sleep up to 38 participants.  Bertha features a large activity area with tables, a fireplace, full kitchen with enough dishes to serve 40, six showers, and a washer and dryer.

Hope Lodge Program/Dining Center
 Our dining facility seats up to 350 people, and doubles as a great place for indoor activities.  Hope Lodge is equipped with a state of the art commercial kitchen, 25 foot ceilings, fireplace, two bathrooms, sound system, and wrap around screen porch.  This site is available for rental by the day, or hourly.

Log Cabins (13)
 Sleeps 10 people per cabin in log bunks with foam mattresses and two single beds.  They come complete with screened windows and doors, front porch area, a ceiling fan, lights, outlits, cubby areas, table that seats 8, and jacket hooks.  Two cabins are wheelchair accessible, and four cabins are heated.  The cabins are a seasonal unit, and are available from May to October.

Platform Tent Unit
 This seasonal unit sleeps up to 24 total with indoor bathroom facility. This unit is only erected as necessary and may not be available for rental.


 The Yurt is a round permanent tent that sleeps 8 in all weather.  It is not heated and has a vinyl domed tent and screened windows.
