Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards Update
For those of you that are helping girls earn their Girl Scout Bronze, Silver or Gold Award, the end of the GSUSA mandated two-year transition time is quickly approaching on September 30. If you are mentoring a girl who is pursuing an award, please read the following carefully.
Final Reports
After September 30, 2011 (2 1/2 months from now), final reports for Bronze and Silver Awards that used the old requirements will not be accepted. As of October 1, 2011 all awards must follow the new GS Journey based Bronze and Silver Award requirements. For questions about Bronze and Silver Awards, please contact Ti Gauger at gaugert@gsbadgerland.org or at 800-236-2710 x 1164.
Award Proposals
For Girl Scout Gold Awards…If you are still working on your Gold Award under the old requirements (Studio 2B or previous model) you must have your Gold Award Project Proposal in to the Gold Award Committee by September 30, 2011. Any project proposals turned in after that date must use the new GS Journey based Gold Award Model. If you have turned in your project proposal prior to this date, you may still finish your project under the old guidelines. For questions about the Gold Award please contact Eliza Zimmerman at zimmermane@gsbadgerland.org or 800-236-2710 x 3030.
Please remember this is a GSUSA mandated transition deadline. These awards are meant to be an important and meaningful part of the Girl Scout Experience, to that end, we must adhere to the policies of these awards as delineated by GSUSA. The new guidelines for all of these awards uphold the long tradition of leadership, community service and personal growth meant to be instilled in all girls that earn them. Please contact one of the above GS Council staff if you have any questions about the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards.
