We need your input!

Girl Scouts of Wisconsin - Badgerland Council is in need of your help.

Over the next year, our council will be going through a process called Strategic Learning to develop future programs and set the course for the council.  We will be using the proven best practices of Strategic Learning to gather and review information from our stakeholders across the council, and we invite you to share your opinions with us.  We need your help to make sure our council keeps up to date with what is important to our girls, volunteers, and community partners in south-central and southwest Wisconsin.

Please take just two minutes of your time to complete our survey.   We value your input as we strive to become the premier leadership experience for girls.

Survey deadline is Friday, November 4.

Thank you for your help!!  If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Byer at byers@gsbadgerland.org or call 800.236.2710 X 1143.

Happy Founder's Day!

On behalf of all of us with Badgerland Council, we wish you a very . . .

Happy Founder's Day!

What is Founder’s Day?

Founder’s Day is the last of the four Girl Scout holidays of the year.  It is preceded by World Thinking Day (February 22), Girl Scout Birthday (March 12), and Leader Day (April 22).

Founder’s Day is also known as Juliette’s Birthday.   Each year on October 31, Girl Scouts all over the world celebrate Founder’s Day by taking time to think about the 1860 birth of Juliette Gordon Low and celebrate her life and her life’s work, Girl Scouts.  Founder’s Day encourages us all to remember an amazing woman of vision, integrity, and fortitude and provides us an opportunity to celebrate the unique and wonderful organization she created in Girl Scouts.

GSRI Says Reality TV Fosters "Mean Girls"

Here's the latest from the Girl Scout Research Institute from GSUSA's blog - great info!

New Girl Scouts Research Exposes the Impact of Reality TV on Girls

As reality TV has become staple entertainment for young people and adults alike, tween and teen girls who regularly view reality TV accept and expect a higher level of drama, aggression, and bullying in their own lives, and measure their worth primarily by their physical appearance, according to Real to Me: Girls and Reality TV, a national survey released today by the Girl Scout Research Institute.

The study found that the vast majority of girls think reality shows "often pit girls against each other to make the shows more exciting" (86 percent). When comparing the propensity for relational aggression between viewers and non-viewers of reality TV, 78 percent vs. 54 percent state that "gossiping is a normal part of a relationship between girls."

Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting: Here's the Latest!

We have all been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting!

Badgerland Council has been sharing with you the exciting new information regarding the Girl's Guide binders as we had it available to us and we've been as excited (if not more so) than you to get our hands on them.

As you know, the new Girl's Guide binders were supposed to arrive the end of September AND we are so pleased that the first of the binders have arrived!  However, due to the large demand on GSUSA, they are only sending partial orders at this time to all councils.  National is working to meet the demand for books as fast as they can.

It's so hard to wait for these books when it feels like we've been waiting 'forever!'

It is frustrating waiting for the materials since we know you want them and need them now.  Please know that we share your frustration - we want to have enough books for everyone to have one today.  Ideally, you could walk into any of our shops and snag the Girl's Guide you need . . . but, we are in transition and we all know that that can be a bumpy road.

We strongly recommend that anyone who is interested in purchasing a Girl’s Guide do so by using the

Girl’s Guide Pre-Order Form

and reserving a copy. Badgerland Council is filling pre-orders as the Girl’s Guides are received and any remaining Girl’s Guides will then be available for purchase from Badgerland Shops.

We know this is hard and we greatly appreciate your understanding as we work through this transition period. Watch your e-mail and e-newsletters for the latest updates.  Or, 'like' us on Facebook or 'follow' us on Twitter and you'll be kept up-to-date on the latest news related to the Girl's Guides and all things Girl Scouting in Badgerland Council.

Again, thank you for your patience!

The wait will be worth it . . . these books are awesome!
